You need at least one year’s experience to make the most of it, although many people take it after a number of year’s experience in the classroom. If you are planning to progress into academic management a DELTA is a very good idea. In some schools it will be a prerequisite.

There are three modules, which you can take in any order.

DELTA Module 3

DELTA Module 3 is independent research on either an ELT specialism or management.  It is assessed by a written dissertation

The Other Modules

Module 1 is “Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching”. This is the examined module, and is primarily theoretical.

Module 2 is “Developing Professional Practice”.  It is assessed with a portfolio of coursework and assessed lesson observations.

DELTA Module 1

  • Theory of language acquisition and language teaching

About the school

IH Wroclaw opened in 1994.  We teach children, teenagers and adults, in groups or individually. We offer general and business language courses, and help students to prepare for exams. We also run the CELTA and DELTA teacher training courses.

Our school is located in the centre where you have access to a range of eating options at lunchtimes and in the evenings. Practical amenities such as stationary shops, a post office etc. are close at hand.

The medieval Old Square (Rynek), which is the main focal point of the city centre, is literally just seconds away from the school. Some say it is the most beautiful Rynek in Poland. In the summer the square is lined with open-air cafes and bustling with street entertainment, which makes it an excellent place for relaxation after a hard day of training!

The best thing about the school is the atmosphere –  the school is professional but relaxed, which means that it’s easy to interact with and get to know some of our regular teaching staff who —who knows—could be your colleagues someday.

There are ten classrooms, a teachers’ room and resource centre with computer facilities, printer, photocopier and a library. There are OHP in input and TP classrooms, CD players etc.

The city of Wrocław is a fantastic location to take a training course. This town is both – historical but also young and trendy, safe but lively and dynamic, it’s a charming place where you will feel good.

In 2018 Wrocław was voted the best European destination by tourists from all over the world. And it’s not surprising –  our city truly has something for everyone. You will want to come back to enjoy it properly once your course is over!

Also Wrocław is yet not as overcrowded as some other more famous destination! Come to Wrocław before everyone else does!

Within easy reach of Wroclaw by bus or train are peaceful rural walking trails, mountains, excellent winter ski slopes and the major cities of Prague, Berlin, Krakow and Budapest.

Studying at IH Wroclaw

Wrocław airport connects to major cities around the world. The airport is only 20 minutes from the city centre. You can transfer by taxi or public transport. You can also reach the city by train by stopping at Wroclaw Central Station or by coach.

As the school is located in the very centre, it’s very easy to get here by public transport from any place in the city. You can also use city rent-a-bike system or walk.

There are plenty of supermarkets and small shops  just a few minutes away from the school, mostly local brands.

There is no school café, but there are some in the same building as are little shops nearby where you can buy rolls, fruit, and so on, and there are of course lots of cafes and restaurants just a few minutes’ walk away. In the school itself there is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery.

Accommodation

We’re happy to help with finding accommodation for course participants, however we do encourage candidates to search as well – very often it’s easier to find more attractive and cheaper accommodation as an individual.

Accommodation is usually in a furnished apartment with a private bedroom, the kitchen and bathroom being shared with another course participant or with the permanent occupant. All apartments are equipped with a washing machine, fridge etc., and an internet connection.

The cost of shared accommodation is usually about 1,500 PLN for a four-week period.
